I'm looking for a comfy chair that's great for long coding sessions without breaking the bank. I know the Herman Miller chairs are often recommended, but I'm hoping to find alternatives that are more affordable. I had a bad experience with a foam chair that came with a wine stain and broke down in just six months, so I'd prefer something with decent quality. What chairs have you all used that have actually worked well for coding in a home office? I'd really appreciate any recommendations!

You can often find used Herman Miller Aerons at reasonable prices. I snagged one for around $450 years ago, and it’s lasted pretty well! My partner has one that’s almost 14 years old and only needed minor repairs.
Refurbished Steelcase Leap V2 is a great option! I picked mine up from Crandall Office and it feels brand new with all the upgrades like fabric and wheels.
Totally agree! Just got a refurb from another place and it's amazing. My dad, who is an ergonomist, swears by this design too.
It works well for average builds, but it might not be the best fit if you’re taller.
I once used a folding chair from a garage sale, and I thought I was fine until I stood up and my spine made a noise like bubble wrap. Don't go that route!
Okay, that just sold me on getting an actual chair!
I had a similar experience with dining chairs – they were torture after 15 minutes!
I've been using the Autonomous ErgoChair Pro for over 5 years and it's fantastic! I sit on it daily and have had no back issues, even after long hours.
Did you go for the mesh or foam seat option?
I switched to the ErgoChair Pro from a gaming chair, and my back has been so much happier since. It's pretty adjustable too!
If you're willing to spend a bit, I really love my Steelcase Gesture. They have refurb options that can save you some cash, and it's super comfy for those long coding days.
Good to know! Do they disassemble easily for transport? I’m not sure if it'll fit in my car.
