Hi everyone, I need some advice! My company is launching a new R&D division and we'll be working with a variety of consultants. While most have business accounts (like @businessedomain.com), I've been receiving requests for personal emails such as @universityname.edu, @gmail.com, @yahoo.com, and @hotmail.com. We're primarily a Microsoft environment, and honestly, managing SharePoint security for non-Microsoft accounts is a real headache for me as a sysadmin. Consultants have to keep going back to the sharing email for links and enter security codes repeatedly, which has led to a lot of complaints. I'm not familiar with other major file-sharing solutions like ShareVault. Can anyone suggest an easy-to-administer file sharing solution that meets our needs? Thanks!

Have you thought about using a GitLab server with multi-factor authentication? It provides version control, access restrictions, and auditing, which could be beneficial for your situation.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely check it out.
Alternatively, you could set up email addresses with your domain for the consultants. This is pretty common for non-employees, and if you use Exchange, it’s simple to manage. You can create mail-enabled contacts or users, so they have a company email that forwards to their actual email address. This method can work well with identity providers like Entra or Okta for single sign-on access. Just a thought!
I suggested that initially, but faced resistance. These consultants already work with different firms and prefer not to manage another email.
You could look into Tresorit.com. It’s well-known for its security and might suit your needs well.
Thanks for the tip!
You might also want to consider Dropbox or Google Drive for a simpler option.
