Screen Turns Off While Gaming – What’s Going On?

Hey everyone, I'm having a weird issue with my computer. The screen completely shuts off while I'm playing games, but it doesn't happen when I just watch movies or use Discord. It's really random; sometimes it happens after 20 minutes, sometimes after an hour or so. When I restart my computer, it seems to work fine for about 1.5 to 2 hours before it happens again. I've checked for updates on both Windows and my Nvidia drivers and everything seems fine. I couldn't find any Nvidia logs to review either. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you cleaned out the cooling hardware lately? It sounds like overheating might be the issue, and a lot of folks forget to clean their PCs regularly.

I cleaned it just two days ago, so it's all good on that front!

It sounds like the system might be going into a power-saving state or something. When your screen turns off, do the fans rev up or does everything just seem to stop? If everything is still running but the screen is black, it might be a problem with your motherboard or GPU pulling too much power. You might need to troubleshoot that more closely.

The fans and LEDs are normal; it's only the screen that goes blank.

Do you keep an eye on your temperatures while gaming? Overheating can cause these types of shutdowns.

Not really. When it crashes, I just check by feeling the case, but it doesn't seem hotter than usual.
