Should Biometrics Attendance Systems Be Funded by IT?

I'm wondering if a biometrics attendance system for employees should be accounted for in the IT budget. I noticed one of the budget submissions had it listed under IT, but I feel like it might actually fit more under HR or security since it's really about workforce management. What do you all think?

In my experience, we cover the costs for the equipment itself, but recurring expenses like subscriptions usually fall under office or HR costs. It's definitely not one-size-fits-all, though!

It really varies from company to company. You might want to check with your CFO to get the official stance on this.

This seems like it belongs with Timekeeping and should be handled by the HR department, not IT.

That makes sense. It just feels like it's more about managing the workforce.
