I just bought a Seagate 24TB Expansion external HDD and I'm seeing some concerning SMART attributes when I checked it with CrystalDiskInfo right after plugging it into my laptop. The temperature reading is fine, but the other attributes look questionable. Specifically, they don't seem right compared to what I expect. I've tried connecting it to different USB ports, and I'm wondering if I should just return it because of this issue. Here are the current and worst values for the SMART attributes I found:
- Read Error Rate: 76 (Worst: 64)
- Start/Stop Count: 100 (Worst: 100)
- Reallocated Sector Count: 100 (Worst: 100)
- Seek Error Rate: 100 (Worst: 253)
- Current Pending Sector Count: 100 (Worst: 100)
- Uncorrectable Sector Count: 100 (Worst: 100)
- Power On Hours: 100 (Worst: 100, but I've only had it on for about 20 minutes)

It’s possible these readings are just false positives. You might want to run a different program for testing to see if the results match up. If you're still concerned, consider checking with an AI that specializes in hardware if you can.
It sounds like you're focusing on the wrong columns. There's usually a raw data column along with current and worst. If you can pull a full screenshot that includes that 'raw' column, it would really help. Remember, the current and worst values are typically on a scale from 0 (bad) to 100 (good), so seeing lots of 100s is usually a positive sign. Just a heads up, always have backups for important data anyway!

That's true! I've got this drive set up as a cold storage backup for my NAS that's configured in RAID 6, so I do have redundancy.
