Should I Build My B2B E-commerce Site with Laravel or Aimeos?

I'm in a bit of a dilemma with my coworker about building a B2B e-commerce website. He prefers to start from scratch using Laravel since that's where his expertise lies. However, I stumbled upon Aimeos and it seems like a quicker and safer option for e-commerce projects. I'm looking for input from developers who have experience with either framework. What do you think?

What about lunarphp? Any thoughts on that framework?

I haven't come across that one yet, but I'm definitely going to check it out!

Your coworker’s Laravel skills could offer flexibility, but building from scratch means you’d be recreating key features like the catalog, cart, and payment processors—all of which are time-consuming and can introduce risks. Aimeos is built on Laravel as well, providing tons of essential e-commerce features right out of the box (like multi-vendor setups and subscription models), yet it still offers customization. If getting your site live quickly is crucial, go with Aimeos. Pure Laravel might be worth it only if you have unique demands and enough development power.

Definitely agree! I tried Bagisto too, but it felt like it didn't adhere to Laravel standards and my coworker wasn’t impressed. Fingers crossed Aimeos sticks closer to Laravel principles to keep him content.

If you're prioritizing speed and stability, Aimeos is definitely a great pick. It’s specifically made for e-commerce, which saves a lot of time since you won’t have to build everything from the ground up like you would with Laravel. However, if your coworker is really strong in Laravel and your project needs some custom pricing logic, starting from scratch could be feasible. But honestly, Aimeos might get you up and running much faster with less stress!

Thanks for the input! We definitely need that custom pricing logic, but I get the feeling Aimeos could handle that too. I did check out Bagisto but my coworker said its coding style felt off for Laravel.
