Should I Buy a 7900 XT for $650 If I Can Find It?

I'm noticing that my PC is starting to hit minimum specs for modern gaming. For example, Oblivion Remastered needs at least a 5700 or a 6600 XT to run decently. With the demand for ray tracing rising, I feel like I'm really on the edge of being outdated, especially since even consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X struggle with high-resolution graphics and ray tracing. I'm currently running on a 3rd-gen Ryzen, and I'm concerned that I might need to upgrade my entire setup sooner rather than later, particularly with new games like Doom: Dark Ages needing ray tracing. I would love to get a 9070 XT, but scalpers have made that impossible without paying an arm and a leg. I don't want to spend over $650 since I've found some 7900 XTs available at that price. Is it worth it to just go for the 7900 XT?

I'd say it’s a fair price if you really need to upgrade. You might want to check out used options, though, because you could score something better for the same or even less.

Definitely! Just make sure you check the card's condition before buying used.

Right! It's all about finding the best value, whether it's new or used.

The 7900 XT at $650 sounds like a decent deal, especially since the 5070 is about $550 and only offers a 7% performance boost at 1440p. If you can snag the 7900 XT at that price, it could be a solid investment compared to what's out there right now. Just keep an eye on availability, though!

Yeah, I actually found my 5070 on sale, and it runs Oblivion maxed out just fine. Just make sure you shop around!

True, and don't forget that prices can vary widely depending on where you buy. It's all about patience!

Honestly, I'd consider waiting a bit if you can. I've seen folks posting about getting the 9070 XT at MSRP from Newegg, so there's hope! Plus, if you can find the 7900 XT for that price or lower, it’s definitely worth considering.

For sure, the key is to stay vigilant. Those sales can pop up when you least expect them!

Yeah, but don't overlook the potential of used cards too. Sometimes you can find killer deals!
