Should I Buy New RAM Now or Stick with Single Channel?

I accidentally shorted my system by plugging in a faulty device while my PC was running, causing it to shut down. Since then, my PC doesn't POST properly, and I've discovered that one of my DDR5 RAM sticks (TeamGroup T.Create Expert DDR5-6000 CL30, 16GB) is dead. The PC works with the remaining stick, but not with the faulty one or when both are used together. Considering the rising prices of memory, should I rush to purchase a new kit with two sticks while they're still reasonably priced, or is it okay to run on a single-channel configuration for now? I don't play many demanding games, and I might wait a year to dive into titles like Cyberpunk. Additionally, if I find a used kit for a decent price, how risky is that? I know RAM is usually durable, but I've heard that DDR5 can be more sensitive. Is a one-month warranty from a shop enough protection?

Honestly, it sounds like the slot on your motherboard might be damaged. Even if you get another stick, it may not work if the slot isn't functioning properly.

Most RAM comes with a lifetime warranty, so have you checked if you can get a replacement for your dead stick?

If you decide to buy a single stick, make sure it matches your original stick, as mixing and matching can be tricky. If you find that 16GB is still sufficient for your needs, then waiting might be wise, especially with prices increasing. Ultimately, it's your call based on how much you want to invest right now.

In this market, I recommend trying out single stick operation first to see how it affects your gaming experience. It might not be optimal, but it could work for your current needs.
