Hey everyone! I found a 5700X3D for $172 and I'm considering it, but I also spotted a 5800X3D for $460. I'm running a 5070 GPU. Is the 5800X3D worth the extra cash, or should I go with the 5700X3D?

For that much money, you might as well consider going for AM5 instead of just the 5800. The price difference is huge, and it’s worth weighing your options to avoid overspending.
I’d definitely go for the 5700X3D. Spending 2.67 times more for just a small performance bump (around 4-10% in some games) just doesn’t make sense. Plus, if you’re into competitive gaming, you might not even notice that difference. You'd probably be better off investing in a high refresh rate monitor instead if you don't have one.
Honestly, the 5700X3D is really close to the 5800X3D in performance. The main difference is in the clock speeds, and the 5700X3D has about 91% of the clocks of the 5800. It’s not worth spending more for the slight performance increase you might see in some games.
I don’t see the point of paying so much for the 5800X3D, especially at that price. It's generally only about 10-15% faster than the 5700X3D. If you’re not already committed to an AM4 motherboard, maybe consider jumping to AM5 instead.
With a 5070 GPU, I’d lean towards the 5800X3D, but honestly, if you can find a 7800X3D or better at a decent price, that would be the way to go. Otherwise, stick with the 5700X3D—it’s a solid choice for your setup.
Yeah, it really does depend on the pricing! Thanks for the insight!
