I'm thinking about changing the thermal pads on my Galax RTX 3070 (2 fans edition) because my GPU temperatures hit 85°C while gaming, even with lighter games like Rocket League and Roblox. I found a set that includes all thicknesses since I'm unsure about the original thickness. This is my first time replacing thermal pads, and despite watching several YouTube tutorials, I'm still confused about how to disassemble my GPU. Any advice or luck wishes would be greatly appreciated!

If the thermal pads are worn out or if you're not getting satisfactory performance, changing them could help. However, be extra cautious if it’s your first time. The risk of messing up and increasing your temps is real. You’ll want to get your hands on a good guide and make sure you know what you’re doing before taking the plunge! Also, cleaning any accumulated dust can help with cooling too. Keep an eye on that fan curve, especially with summer heat!
Why are you looking to change the thermal pads? If your temps are at 85°C, that’s not unusual for a GPU under load, especially if you’re gaming. Unless you’ve been really pushing your GPU hard with heavy mining or extreme gaming sessions, the thermal pads might be fine. But if you're uncomfortable, definitely make sure you're familiar with the disassembly process before diving in. You might want to just clean your fans and adjust your fan curves to kick in sooner instead! Good luck!
Got it, thanks for the advice! If I do decide to repaste my GPU, will that help lower the temps? I'm just worried about making things worse by accidentally pulling out the thermal pads.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it! If I stick to a steady cleaning routine, do you think I still need to replace the pads eventually?
