I've been dealing with eye strain lately and I'm thinking about upgrading from my 13.6" and 15.6" laptop screens to a bigger monitor. Initially, I was looking at a full HD 27" display, but I've come across posts suggesting that might not be the best option. Now, I'm trying to decide whether a 2K monitor would be sufficient or if I should invest in a 4K display instead. My current laptops have around 267 PPI, and I'm worried that a 100 PPI 2K screen might not cut it. I did check out a 27" full HD monitor, and while it was better for my eyes than my laptops, I could still see the individual pixels. Since I code for up to 10 hours a day, managing eye strain is my top priority. Any thoughts on whether it's worth it to pay more for a higher resolution? I don't plan on using this for gaming or video editing, so those aspects aren't a factor for me.

Honestly, I think pixel density shouldn't be your main worry right now. Pay attention to creating a comfortable working environment. Take regular breaks, adjust your font size, try out dark mode, and control the lighting in your workspace. These adjustments might reduce your eye strain more than just switching to a higher resolution monitor would.
I feel you on the dark mode thing! I prefer light mode on my laptop for coding. Maybe it just feels more comfortable on a smaller screen? But I get why it can be harder on the eyes.
