Should I Choose a 5.0 PCIe Riser Cable Over 4.0 for My Non-XT 9070?

I've just realized my case has a built-in bracket for vertical mounting, and I want to set it up. However, I'm torn between getting a PCIe riser cable in version 5.0 or sticking with 4.0. Is there a significant performance drop when using a 4.0 cable instead of 5.0, and do you think the extra cost for the 5.0 version is justified?

Honestly, if your motherboard is running on PCIe 4.0, you probably won't notice much of a difference in performance whether you go with 4.0 or 5.0. There might be some tweaks needed in your BIOS settings if you face any issues, but otherwise, you're good to go!

In my experience, if you're not maxing out your VRAM (16GB should be fine), the performance loss is basically negligible. If cost isn't a huge concern, trying both could be interesting, but I'd lean towards 4.0 for most setups.

The price difference can be substantial! A 5.0 cable tends to run around 90€ while a 4.0 is closer to 40€. Unless you're doing something very specific that demands 5.0, 4.0 might be the way to go.

Yeah, you’ll save a good chunk of change by choosing the 4.0. Plus, for most gaming setups, it works just fine!
