Should I Choose AM4 or AM5 for My RTX 5070 Build?

I'm building a new PC and I've got an RTX 5070 already. While I initially thought of going for options like the RX 9060xt or RTX 5060 Ti, that's behind me now. My goal is to keep costs down while maximizing performance, especially for competitive gaming and high frame rates. I'm trying to decide whether to go with the AM4 platform to save some cash, or to invest in AM5 for better future-proofing. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the best CPUs for both platforms that would work well with my 5070 without causing any bottlenecks.

It really depends on your budget. If you go for an AM4 system, you can pair it with a Ryzen 5600x or 5700x/5800xt, and it should handle the 5070 just fine. But you mentioned longevity, and that's where AM4 starts to fall behind given how dated those CPUs are becoming. AM5 would be more future-proof, and I recommend looking at a Ryzen 7600x or 9600x as those are solid for gaming and still won’t break the bank.

I've got the 7600 and 5070 combo, and it’s been great! No issues at 1440p or 4K, although I'm just on a 60hz 55-inch TV.

Honestly, future-proofing is often overhyped. Just buy what you can afford and don’t stress about potential bottlenecks. In a year or two, new tech will come out, and you’ll find a way to upgrade then. It’s impossible to predict if future games will cripple your setup, so focus on your current needs!
