What does the “remote access code” mean when calling animal control?

I recently tried to contact my local animal control about an aggressive dog, but their office was closed for the day. Their website mentioned that I should call if the animal poses a threat, so I went ahead and did that. However, when I called, I was met with a voice prompt asking for a "remote access code." I called twice and received the same message both times. I have no clue what this access code is or where to find it because I couldn't find any mention of it on their website. Can anyone help me understand what this code might be and how I can resolve this issue?

No idea what the access code is but that phone system sounds like a mess. I'd try the police too—they might help get the right folks to respond before animal control opens up.

If you feel threatened by the dog, don't hesitate to call 911! They can help assess the situation. If everything’s okay but you want to report it, try the non-emergency police line; they may have a way to contact animal control more promptly.

It sounds like you're dealing with a glitch in their phone system. The remote access code is probably something only their staff uses and not for the general public. Unfortunately, it might be best to wait until they're open again or find another way to reach them, like via email. In urgent situations, you've got to look for alternatives.

It seems like their system is set up poorly. You might want to send them an email describing the issue instead of relying on that phone system.
