Hey everyone! I'm considering buying an RTX 3080 because I prefer NVIDIA over AMD, mainly for the awesome DLSS features it offers. However, someone mentioned that the RTX 4070 might actually be the better option since it has newer features that don't work with the 3080. The 4070 is a bit more than I'd like to spend, but I'm wondering if the investment is worth it primarily for its DLSS capabilities. Any advice would be really appreciated, as this subreddit has always been helpful!

Before making a decision, what's your budget for a GPU? Also, what resolution are you targeting and what frame rates do you hope to achieve? Knowing those will help narrow down the best option for you!
The RTX 4070 is definitely the way to go if you can swing it. The 3080 is less efficient, has lower VRAM (10GB vs. 12GB for 4070), and misses out on features like frame generation. Considering future-proofing, the 4070 will last longer and perform better in newer titles.
Honestly, both cards have similar performance, but I'd pick the 4070 because of energy efficiency—it only uses around 200-220W, while the 3080 can pull over 320W. If the price difference is about $100 in your area, that slight extra cost for the 4070 could save you on electricity bills and make your build cooler overall!
Good point! I’ve always heard that power efficiency matters, especially for keeping everything running smoothly in the long run.
