Should I Choose DDR4 Intel or DDR5 AMD for My Next Build?

I'm considering two setups for my build: an Intel i5 14600K with 2x16GB DDR4 RAM or an AMD Ryzen 5 9600X with 1x32GB DDR5 RAM. The price of RAM is outrageous right now, so I'm debating whether I should go for DDR4 and Intel or DDR5 and AMD. The AMD option saves me about $80, and I could always add another stick of RAM later on. What should I do?

This is a pretty balanced comparison. The i5 14600K on DDR4 might lag behind a bit—around 15-20% less performance compared to DDR5 setups, especially in CPU-intensive games like simulators or large multiplayer titles. However, if you plan to play AAA single-player games at ultra settings on 1440p, your GPU will probably be the bottleneck anyway. I’d recommend leaning towards the AM5 option if that DDR5 speed on the 32GB stick isn't too low.
