Should I Choose the 5070 or 9070 for 1440p Gaming?

Hey folks! I'm currently gaming at 1080p/60hz with a 1660 Super and a Ryzen 5700X. I'm debating whether to upgrade to either the 5070 or the 9070, aiming for 1440p and high/max settings. I'm particularly keen on titles like Alan Wake 2, Stalker 2, and Ghost of Tsushima, along with some upcoming games like GTA 6 and Control 2. I don't need the absolute highest FPS but want a smooth gaming experience. I'm leaning between the 5070, which is cheaper and has better features for ray tracing, and the 9070, which offers 4GB more VRAM but at a higher price. Alternatively, I could stay at 1080p and grab the 9060XT with 16GB instead. Here's what I need help with: 1. Is the extra 4GB VRAM on the 9070 worth it over the 5070's features? 2. Will going to 1440p be worth it, or will I not even notice after a week? 3. Remember, I'm upgrading from a 6GB card, so I'm used to lower specs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely go for the 9070! You're getting about 10% more performance and an extra 4GB of VRAM for only €60 more. It feels like a no-brainer for your 1440p upgrade.

I say the 9070 as well because of the extra VRAM. It’s really useful for those heavier games you'll be playing at 1440p.

If you're looking at 1440p with higher settings, the 5070 might struggle with demanding titles like Alan Wake 2. I have a high-end setup, and during intense moments in games—especially at max settings—I sometimes hit over 12GB of VRAM usage. You should definitely check how the 5070 performs on specific games you're interested in.

I appreciate the insight! I heard RTX tech works better with NVIDIA, so I wonder if that makes a difference for older titles too.
