Hey everyone! I'm in the process of upgrading my CPU from a 5700X since I need to relocate and selling my current setup makes sense. I'm considering whether the 9800X3D is worth the $140 extra compared to the 7800X3D, especially since I plan to pair it with a 4070 Super. Is the 9800X3D overkill for this GPU? Thanks in advance for any insights!

For gaming, the 9800X3D is only about 10% better than the 7800X3D. If you're leaning towards productivity work, it shines more there, but honestly, both are solid choices for the 4070 Super.
The 7800X3D is a fantastic chip. The decision really depends on how much of a difference the $140 means to you. Plus, it runs slightly cooler than others, which is a bonus!
Honestly, both CPUs are a bit overkill for the 4070 Super. I'd suggest saving some cash and going for the cheaper 7800X3D instead.

Actually, the 9800X3D tends to run cooler due to its design! It has the v-cache positioned differently, making it more efficient.
