I'm in the process of upgrading my CPU to pair with my new 9070XT graphics card. Currently, I'm using a Ryzen 5 4500, and I'd like to stick with my AM4 setup without switching to AM5 or DDR5. My main focus is gaming, with titles like BeamNG, CS2, Halo, and Siege in mind. Between the Ryzen 7 5800X3D and the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, which would better suit my gaming needs?

Honestly, unless you're gaming at 1440p or higher, the FPS difference is negligible. The 5800X3D is faster, but not by much. Just find the cheaper option, but don't overpay for an older CPU on a dead socket, especially since prices are wild right now.
Performance-wise, both CPUs are quite similar. If price is the deciding factor, just go for the cheaper option. Just keep in mind that both are a bit hard to find due to being out of production for a while.
The 5700X and 5800X make the most sense unless you can score a 5700X3D for under $250. I recently got a used 5800X for just $137 on eBay, and it’s more than enough for my needs!
I was on the hunt for one for my 9070XT but wasn’t ready to pay around $700 for one from China, so I ended up picking up an i7-14700K with a Z790 DDR4 board for a great price! It outperforms both the 5800X3D and 5700X3D even when overclocked, and with its L3 cache, it's quite impressive.
If you can find either, the 5800X3D is obviously the more powerful choice. But what's the price difference? If the 5800X3D is significantly more expensive, you might want to think twice.

True, at stock settings, the 14700K beats the 5800X3D, and with tuning, it competes with DDR5 setups. It’s a solid choice!
