I'm building my first PC next week and I have a 7800X3D processor with 6000MHz CL30 RAM. I've heard that these X3D CPUs only show benefits up to 6000MHz, so I'm wondering if it's worth enabling EXPO. Can anyone clarify if EXPO is necessary to get the RAM running at the right speeds?

Just a heads up, EXPO is what gets your RAM running at 6000MHz. When you first boot up the PC, your RAM will probably run at just 4200 or 4800MHz. The 6000MHz rating is its potential maximum speed when overclocked using EXPO.
Yes, definitely enable EXPO! If you don't, your RAM will only run at around 4800MHz instead of the advertised 6000MHz. So to take full advantage of your RAM speed, EXPO is the way to go.
The idea that X3D CPUs are limited to 6000MHz isn't entirely accurate. AMD suggests 6000MHz as the sweet spot for all AM5 CPUs, including the X3D series. While faster RAM can provide benefits, it often requires adjusting the Infinity Fabric speed, which can be tricky. The X3D CPUs have large caches, so they may not be as affected by lower RAM speeds as other AM5 CPUs.
Stock speeds on that CPU are typically around 5200MHz. If you want to achieve 6000MHz, you absolutely need to enable that EXPO profile.
You could actually push your RAM even higher, around 6200 to 6400MHz, if you adjust the settings. But just keep in mind that sometimes it might be better to focus on tightening the timings instead of just increasing the clock speed.
