Hey everyone! I've been working in helpdesk for a few years now, but I never really feel fulfilled. I'm considering transitioning to a software tester or web developer role. I've been learning through the OdinProject just as a hobby, thinking it might lead to a career change. However, the job market seems pretty saturated, so I wasn't sure how serious to take it. I'm currently on the last chapter of the Foundation course and haven't skipped anything, which feels good.
Recently, I spoke with my coworkers about my interest, and they invited me to join a team that's developing a web platform for archive management using SharePoint 2016 and Powershell scripts. I'm quite new to SharePoint and mostly used scripts created by others, so I often feel a bit lost.
This has got me thinking: should I put my coding studies on hold to focus more on learning SharePoint, Powershell, and SQL since these would be more relevant to my current job? I'm also preparing for university entrance math, which makes my time pretty tight. What do you all think? Is there any other language I should consider that would be useful for SharePoint work?

If your company is offering you this opportunity, it's definitely worth considering! Plus, hands-on experience with SharePoint and Powershell could set you apart in your current role. Just make sure you're getting some kind of recognition or pay for the extra work. That could lead to a nice raise in the future!
Totally agree! The market might seem like it's full of 'vibe coders' who can’t actually debug or problem-solve. Companies are looking for skilled people who know the fundamentals. If you're interested in programming and enjoy it, diving into SharePoint and learning SQL sounds like a smart move!
Got it! I appreciate that. My boss suggested that this focus could really help my career, so it sounds like it's worth pursuing.
