Should I Include My Social Platform Project in My Portfolio?

Hey everyone! A while back, I started working on a simple social platform inspired by Reddit. Initially, it was just for fun—I wanted to combine all the new tools I learned without any intention of launching it or putting it in a portfolio. I finished the project a couple of months ago and now I'm thinking about creating a portfolio. However, I'm unsure if I should include this project. My desktop version looks nice, but I'm worried that the mobile site isn't up to standard for potential clients or employers. I focused on desktop design and neglected proper mobile compatibility until the end. I'd really appreciate it if you could check out my project at https://vellumi.me and let me know if it's worth polishing up for my portfolio or if it's already good enough. Thanks!

By the way, do you have a GitHub repository? I’d love to check out your code—it sounds really interesting!

Functionality-wise, it seems to work well! Maybe consider adding user avatars to enhance the social aspect—it could be an easy addition using Gravatar or custom profile images. I think you should include it in your portfolio.

You should definitely include this in your portfolio! As long as you're not applying for purely design or UX roles, the key focus should be on demonstrating that you can put together backend and frontend functionality for a social media platform. While aesthetics matter, functionality is often the priority. You can always refine things later, but what you've got sounds like it's solid enough to showcase to potential employers.
