I recently bought a Ryzen 7 9800X3D along with some RAM from my local store. I planned to pick up a 2x24GB DDR5-6400 CL32 kit for $238, but I ended up with DDR5-5600 CL40 for $250, which I didn't notice until after the purchase. The other components won't arrive this week, so I have some time to decide whether to keep this RAM or return it. Will I really notice the extra latency? Also, with RAM prices soaring lately, is it worth risking going back to the market?

Keeping it won’t hurt too much, but if the specs you originally wanted really call to you, return it. You might regret not going for the higher speed later!
Exactly! It’s all about what you're comfortable with!
It’s not going to ruin your game experience. Some titles might see a slight drop in FPS, maybe 3-5%, but that’s usually negligible. Plus, tuning your RAM can make a big difference, so don’t sweat it too much.
Exactly! And remember, you can often tune a 5200 kit to outperform a 6000 kit if you've got the right setup.
Some games benefit more from RAM speed, while others don’t care much. Just think about what you mainly play!
Honestly, if you’re primarily gaming, you might be better off returning it. A 2x16GB DDR5-6000 CL30 would give you better performance, especially for a Ryzen chip. Just check out some kits that meet that spec!
I see your point. I do some software development and heavy multitasking, so I might not need 64GB, but it's tough to pinpoint the right amount based on my current use.
I feel you! It's sometimes hard to gauge what you really need. Just remember, RAM usage varies a lot based on your activities.
If it were me, I’d return it. Prices are wild right now, and it’s an excellent chance to upgrade to something with better specs if you can. No point leaving performance on the table!
Totally agree! With all the craziness in prices, you don’t want to settle for less without good reason.
Yeah, investing in good RAM now might save you headaches later!
RAM speed isn’t everything with the X3D models; they handle latency pretty well. If the speed difference isn’t much to you, maybe keep it and avoid the hassle of returning it. But then again, it's up to your peace of mind!
For sure, if you’re not doing anything too demanding, the differences might be minimal.
That’s a good point! I don’t want to be stressing over every little detail.

That’s a valid point. Sometimes the peace of mind knowing you have the best specs is worth it!
