Hey everyone! I'm looking to kick off my journey as a backend developer, but I'm torn between learning Golang and JavaScript. Which language do you think is better to start with? I'd love to hear your recommendations, along with any resources that you think would help me get going!

Both languages are solid choices! Pick one that excites you the most because you'll be spending a lot of your time coding in it. I’ve been doing Node.js development for about 15 years now, and while I can't necessarily say it's better than Go, follow your passion!
I think it largely depends on which language you feel more comfortable with. If you're starting from scratch, I'd suggest JavaScript (Node.js) since it has a larger community and more resources available. Plus, if you decide to do frontend work too, you'll find it easier to transition since you’ll be using the same language for both sides.

I'm a bit exhausted from JavaScript myself, so I'd lean towards learning Go. It's powerful and has a clean syntax. However, if your goal is to land a job, JavaScript might be more beneficial since it's really popular right now in both backend and frontend. If you go with JS, learning TypeScript later on could also be a great idea!
Agreed! Going with something you enjoy makes the learning process a lot easier.
