Should I Learn JavaScript From Scratch in 2025?

I'm considering diving into JavaScript during my spare time. My main goal is to create and manage a simple online secondhand market—something akin to eBay—without needing to rely on anyone else or hire help. With the rise of advanced AI tools, I wonder if learning JavaScript is still worth it, or if it's becoming obsolete. I have some basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and a bit of PHP, and I've found coding enjoyable from what little I've tried. However, my free time is quite limited. Is this a worthy commitment? I'd appreciate any thoughts or recommendations!

It's definitely not obsolete! JavaScript is still a fantastic choice and will be relevant for the foreseeable future. You might even end up working with TypeScript, which builds on JavaScript more robustly.
