I'm considering getting a master's degree focused on cloud technology or DevOps while studying in Australia. I'd love to find work there afterwards, but I only have about a year of professional experience. Can anyone recommend which university I should attend, or share thoughts on the matter?

Honestly, getting a master’s might not be your best bet for landing a DevOps job. Employers typically care more about local experience and hands-on projects than academic credentials. I'd recommend picking a university based on what fits your budget and location, and see if they offer internship opportunities. Make sure to work on personal projects, get relevant certifications, and consider finding a part-time job in IT while you study to boost your experience.
You mentioned projects—how would you compare the impact of project experience to that of actual workplace experience? For instance, if someone has a couple of years in a cloud role versus another with a few months of internship but solid production-level devOps experience, like managing Kubernetes clusters, who stands a better chance?
I really don't see how a master’s would benefit you for any decent DevOps roles. These positions heavily rely on real-world experience across various skills. The junior job market is pretty packed, too, meaning you’ll be in competition with others who’ve spent the last two years actually building projects and gaining hands-on knowledge. What degree do you have already, and what do you think a master's would provide that your bachelor's doesn’t?
I have a bachelor's in AI & Data Science. Right now, I'm in the Gulf with a year of experience, but finding a job with that little is tough. I thought studying in Australia and getting my master's could help me upskill and secure internships for better job prospects.

Which universities do you think offer good opportunities for cloud or DevOps, specifically with internships? I noticed not many are offering master's programs strictly in these fields. I plan to focus on getting my certifications and a job on the side, too.
