I recently dropped my expensive semi truck GPS and now it's got a vertical line of dead pixels on the left side. It looked like it was healing at first, going from covering almost the entire height of the screen down to a third of it. While I'm okay with it as long as it still shows critical information, I'm worried it may suddenly die, forcing me to rely on paper maps until I can get a replacement. I've been saving up my diesel reward points for an upgraded GPS, which would cost me around $400 now. Should I bite the bullet and replace it, or is it fine to hold off?

It seems like just the screen is broken, so it might still work fine for now. But if it’s critical for your driving, it might be smart to think about a backup solution. You could look for a GPS app on your phone, even if it requires a subscription.

I get that, but with subscription apps, they can stop working when you're out of cell service. If you’re gonna shell out cash for navigation, you definitely want something reliable that you own, especially with diesel prices being high!
