Should I Replace or Upgrade Our 7-Year-Old Laptops?

I've got a situation in my department where everyone's using laptops with 8th gen Intel CPUs from 2018/2019. Recently, we're seeing strange issues like slow File Explorer, OneDrive not syncing, and Teams crashing. I suggested replacing the laptops since they're about 7 years old, but due to budget cuts, management wants to stick with just upgrading the RAM from 8GB to 16GB. I'm looking for solid reasons to argue that a RAM upgrade is just a temporary fix and that we really need new laptops. What do you all think?

If management is resistant to buying new laptops, have you thought about reimaging the problematic devices first to see if it resolves any issues? A fresh install can eliminate weird glitches. Also, upgrading the RAM doesn't hurt, and while you're at it, consider upgrading to Windows 11, as it might run better than 10 on those machines. Still, they'll need to be replaced soon, so suggest updating a few each year to spread out costs.

Exactly! New RAM and a fresh OS install could help in the short term, but just FYI, you might want to push for a phased replacement plan. That way, you can stay ahead of future issues!
