I recently purchased an MSI Shadow GeForce RTX 5070 with 12GB of VRAM from Walmart, but I haven't opened it yet, so I'm still eligible for a return. I saw that Micro Center has the PowerColor AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Reaper with 16GB VRAM on sale. If I return the 5070 and get the 9070 XT, it will cost me about $100 more. I'm aware that the 9070 XT offers 16GB of VRAM, which seems like a good option for future-proofing, but I'm wondering if that additional $100 is justified compared to the NVIDIA features like DLSS 4 and better Ray Tracing. For now, I'll mostly be gaming at 1440p, but I might consider upgrading in the future. Is the performance boost and VRAM increase in the 9070 XT worth the extra spending, or should I just stick with the 5070 I already have?

One thing that confuses me is why the RTX 5070 sells out quickly when it goes on sale, but the 9070 XT seems to be available all the time. What's up with that?
At 1440p, the 9070 XT gives you about a 25% performance boost. If that improvement sounds appealing to you, I’d say go for it. I'd definitely make the switch!
Honestly, unless you specifically need Nvidia features, I’d say absolutely go for the 9070 XT.
The RX 9070 XT is around 21% faster than the 5070 and has that extra 4GB of RAM. Honestly, I think it'd be worth it to make the switch if you're okay with the additional cost.
I'd definitely go for the extra 4GB of VRAM with the 9070 XT. It will be more future-proof and could serve you better long-term. I'm currently using a 9070 XT myself, and it's great!
DLSS isn't a big deal when the raw performance of the RX 9070 XT outperforms the RTX 5070 easily.
Thanks for the tips, everyone. Quick question: Is PowerColor a reliable brand? I've never bought from them before.
PowerColor is one of the three main AMD partners, alongside XFX and Sapphire. Everyone has different experiences, but I've generally preferred Sapphire. PowerColor's stuff, especially their Red Devil line, is often top-notch for AMD GPUs.

Yeah, I've had good experiences with their products. They tend to be solid overall.
