Should I Return This Faulty GPU or Troubleshoot Further?

I recently bought a used ASUS AREZ RX 580 8GB for my friend's budget PC build. When I tested it in my gaming rig, it blackscreened immediately during a demanding game, and even in another less demanding game, it only lasted a minute before the same issue occurred. I've already uninstalled the Nvidia drivers, installed the AMD drivers, checked the PCIe power cable, and even attempted to make the GPU more stable with a makeshift sag bracket. I used DDU to clean out all previous drivers but that didn't fix the problem either.

I have access to another PC and I'm considering testing the RX580 there to see if it works. However, I'm debating whether it's worth the extra hassle, given that I can return the GPU for a full refund. Should I send it back right away or is there something else I should try?

Honestly, if you’re still within the return window, just send it back. It’s likely defective. If you really want to dig deeper into troubleshooting, reapplying thermal paste is an option, but that could risk your return if the seller notices you opened it up.

Testing it in the other PC is definitely worth a shot. If it doesn't work there either, you can be pretty certain it's a hardware issue. By the way, what were the temperatures like when you were using it with your main rig?

I would agree that the card seems non-functional based on your experiences. Swapping it out for something different is probably your best bet. Looks like troubleshooting hasn't yielded results.
