I just got a GTX 1080 8GB, and I'm currently using an AMD 5600G. I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to sell the 5600G and upgrade to a Ryzen 5700X or something comparable in price. Is it worth the investment or should I stick with what I have?

Going from 5600G to 5700X is a decent upgrade, especially since the 5600G runs on PCIe 3. But I'd recommend looking into the 5700X3D if you can. It's worth the extra cash if you can swing it!
If you’re not looking to spend on a high-end upgrade like the X3D, I'd suggest saving your money. The 5600G is adequate for your GTX 1080, and you won't see a massive difference in performance with a 5700X right away.
The 5600G should work just fine with a GTX 1080. Unless you plan on upgrading your GPU again soon, it's probably not worth replacing it with a 5700X right now. It's capable enough to handle your setup!
Yeah, but if the X3D chips are similarly priced to AM5 chips where you live, it might not be worth it. You may want to consider that!
