Should I stick with a GTX 1080 Ti replacement or upgrade to a newer GPU?

Hey everyone! I need some advice on what to do after my GTX 1080 Ti broke – kind of a bummer. I've had it since it launched, and while I wasn't planning to upgrade yet, it's sadly out of commission thanks to a shipping mishap. The repair shop I went to offered a used MSI GTX 1080 Ti for 329€ as a replacement. I could also consider getting a brand new GPU for around 500€, but the shop guy mentioned my motherboard might not support it well, which confused me. Here's my build: I'm running a Ryzen 7 5800X on an Asus TUF GAMING B550-PLUS motherboard, with 16GB DDR4 RAM, and a PSU that's 650W. I usually game at 1080p and 1440p. Should I spend 329€ on the same GPU or go for a newer model like an RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 4060 Ti, or even the newer RTX 5060/5060 Ti? Any thoughts? Thanks!

I’d say take this chance to upgrade. Why spend money on an old model when you could invest in something that’ll last you longer? Also, consider upgrading your PSU to at least 850W Gold to support newer cards if you decide to go that route. It’ll save you hassle down the line.

Totally agree! A better PSU will set you up for your future upgrades! Don't waste money on outdated tech!

Honestly, that price for a used 1080 Ti sounds like a scam. I found a similar card for way cheaper! If your budget allows, I’d recommend going for a newer GPU. You want to future-proof your setup, and having something with ray tracing support will really help as games continue to evolve.
