Should I stick with the RX 9070 XT or swap for a 9060 XT or RTX 5060 Ti?

Hey everyone! I'm building a new PC and I could really use your advice on my GPU selection. Currently, I'm gaming on a Ryzen 5 5600H laptop with an RX 6600M. I've already ordered an RX 9070 XT (16GB) and it's on its way, but I'm considering canceling and going for an RX 9060 XT or even an RTX 5060 Ti instead.

I just picked up a Lenovo Legion 1080p 320Hz monitor and don't plan to upgrade to 1440p for another year or two. Right now, I'm mostly playing CS2, but I'm gearing up to explore some AAA titles soon.

Here's my full build:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 9600X
- Motherboard: MSI Pro B650-S WIFI
- RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000MHz CL30 Patriot
- PSU: Corsair RM750x (750W, 80+ Gold)
- Cooler: Arctic Freezer 36 ARGB
- SSD: 1TB Kingston NVMe
- Case: Alphagear (with preinstalled fans)

So, my dilemma is whether to keep the 9070 XT, which is about $800, or save some cash and go for the 9060 XT ($400-$450) or the 5060 Ti ($500) and save the upgrade for later when I get a 1440p monitor.

For 1080p, I feel like the 9070 XT might be overkill, especially when RDNA4 is claimed to be the last of the RDNA lineup. In 3-4 years, I bet we'll see better GPUs for the same price. What would you do if you were in my shoes?

I think the RTX 5070 is a good choice for 1080p gaming. It's strong and handles high resolutions well too. Personally, I've had better experiences with Nvidia products despite the AMD hype.

True, but in some regions, the price difference between the 5070 and 9070 XT is really close. Worth checking it out!

I wouldn't cancel the 9070 XT. Even if it's a bit overkill for 1080p, it's a solid investment. You'll have an easier time switching to a 1440p setup in the future without having to buy a new GPU. If you're worried about stutters, consider using super resolution to enhance performance. You’ve got nothing to lose by going a bit overboard!

Totally agree, you want to be future-proof, right?

Exactly! Plus, with the 9070 XT, I feel set for several years!

Yeah, it might be slightly overkill for your setup now, but it's great for 1440p down the line. If you plan to upgrade eventually, it’s worth sticking with the 9070. You’ll definitely notice better performance at 1080p, and it saves you hassle later if you decide to make the jump to a higher resolution.

I’m playing CS2 and other games too, and I think the 9060 XT could handle them just fine on 1080p.
