I've primarily used Windows PCs throughout my life (I'm 37) and have been self-learning programming basics like web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and some Python. I've also started getting comfortable with the command line and PowerShell. Now, as I'm starting school soon, I'll be issued a MacBook in a couple of weeks. I'm wondering if switching to macOS at this point would hinder my programming learning or if it really won't make much of a difference since my foundation is on Windows. I've dabbled in Linux too and feel okay with Bash. Is it advisable to make this switch early in my programming journey, or should I stick with what I know?

Honestly, I think it'll be fine either way. You already have a grasp on the basics and the command line. Once you get used to macOS, it should feel quite natural, considering the similarities with Unix systems. Just pick one and stick with it for a while to build that momentum!
I say go for the Mac! It’s pretty much a Unix-like system, which is great since most servers run on Unix environments. While you can stick to Windows with the Windows Subsystem for Linux, trying out the Mac might actually boost your learning. Plus, you can always switch back if you find you prefer Windows!
Yeah, I tried coding on Mac, and even though I was a longtime Windows user, I found that transitioning wasn’t too hard. You'll get used to the new commands in no time!
It really boils down to personal preference. I’ve used both, and while I lean towards Mac for its overall experience, I know plenty of people who love Windows. Just remember, it’s about finding what works best for you and your style of coding.
Switching to macOS shouldn't be an issue. The interface might be a little different from what you're used to, but with some practice, it gets easier. Plus, using a Mac can help keep distractions at bay since it’s a cleaner environment. Give it a try!
For sure! I switched myself a while back, and though it took some adjustment, I actually find it easier to focus now that I’ve reduced my distractions.
Whether you're on Windows or Mac doesn't matter that much in the grand scheme of things. Both platforms can handle most programming tasks well. I’ve been coding for years on Windows and love it, but using Mac at work has its perks too. Both environments have their pros and cons!

Exactly! The OS itself isn’t as critical as getting comfy and diving into coding. Just stay dedicated, and you’ll do great!
