I'm considering making the switch to Linux from Windows 11 on my new Vivobook 15 laptop, which has 8GB of RAM. Windows has been pretty slow, especially when I'm using PyCharm, and since I mainly game on my desktop, I don't need Windows for gaming. I'm unsure about two things: first, what happens to my data if I switch to Linux, and second, if I decide to sell the laptop later, will I be able to reinstall Windows? I'd appreciate any advice, and sorry if I'm not explaining it clearly!

Backing up your important data is key! Use cloud storage or an external drive before switching. Once you install Linux, you can easily transfer your data back. Installing Linux doesn't prevent you from reinstalling Windows in the future either, as the license key is usually embedded in the BIOS. So, you've got options!

Thanks! I was worried about needing a new key, but if I just leave the Windows partition intact, I should be okay right?
