Hey everyone! I'm not super tech-savvy, but I make music videos and edit in DaVinci. We're starting to get into green screen work and using environments from Unreal Engine 5. Currently, I have an RX 580, but I'm thinking about upgrading to an RTX 5070. I asked a virtual assistant for advice, and it suggested the RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB. However, benchmarks show the 5070 with 12GB is faster. Do you think I'll encounter VRAM issues? I've been using Megascans environments like the dark ruins, and my RX 580 crashes almost immediately. I'm trying to keep the GPU under $550. Here's my setup:
- Motherboard: ASRock B450M Steel Legend (AM4, micro-ATX)
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
- RAM: 32 GB DDR4 (2 x 16 GB)
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 580 (stock)
- Power Supply: Thermaltake GF1 850W, 80+ Gold, Fully Modular
- CPU Cooler: Noctua
- Case: NZXT mid-tower (good fan setup with front intake + rear exhaust)
- Storage: Samsung NVMe SSD 1TB
My workload involves 4K video editing, green-screen music video editing/compositing, sometimes using the Unreal Engine viewport for editing, and some audio coding work.

You might also consider the RX 9070XT or RX 9070 as alternatives. But I've heard some horror stories about AMD GPUs with Unreal Engine and green screen production. Have you had a different experience with AMD? I'm curious!
For gaming, the RTX 5070 outperforms the others, plus it has better encoding and raw performance due to more cores. But the 5060 Ti does offer more headroom, which might be handy depending on your workload.
I don't game. I have about 5 band members I manage in Unreal, using Lumen and high nanite assets, so I need 4K monitoring + DaVinci running too. I'm estimating 8-10GB of VRAM usage, but I’m not sure how accurate that info is.
Between the two options, I’d say the 5070 is definitely the better pick. Check out this comparison video I found! [YouTube Link](https://youtu.be/Rvw4UCHZH-c)
Thanks a bunch! That video was super helpful!
Since you're into video editing and production, I'd definitely recommend going with Nvidia. A graphics card with 16GB VRAM will serve you better than one with 12GB, especially for your work. The RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB or the RTX 5070 Ti with 16GB are solid choices. Stick with Nvidia for better integration with your software.
Yeah, I was leaning towards Nvidia too. I do mainly 4K exports and would love the 70 Ti with 16GB, but at over $750, it’s a bit too steep. The 5060 Ti with 16GB looks more realistic for my budget.

I haven't gamed much, so I'm unsure if that affects my choice, but those stories make me think twice.
