I'm currently using an RTX 3070 and I got a decent offer to trade it in for an RX 9060XT with some extra cash on my part. I'm primarily focused on playing story-driven games at 1080p with high graphics settings. Do you think this upgrade is worth it, or should I stick with my RTX 3070?

Honestly, unless this upgrade is nearly free, I'd hold onto your 3070 for now. GPU prices are still pretty crazy, so it's better to wait.

It’s a tough call. The RTX 3070 is an excellent card, while the RX 9060XT may have newer tech and 16GB of RAM. Just keep in mind you'll miss out on Nvidia's features like DLSS. If your main aim is future-proofing, that extra VRAM could help.

Could you explain what the Nvidia suite does?

The performance increase with the RX 9060XT is minimal; you’re only looking at about 5% more frames, which won’t be very noticeable. Plus, you lose out on DLSS. How much extra are you planning to spend on this upgrade?

Unless you’re considering an RX 9070, the RX 9060XT may not provide a worthwhile upgrade unless you're pushing into 1440p. Some newer AAA titles need more than 8GB of VRAM at ultra settings, like Hogwarts Legacy. If you're staying at 1080p, I'd suggest looking for a used 3080 12GB or 4070 instead; they offer better performance for a similar price.

It's frustrating how unoptimized some games are, taking over 12GB of VRAM at 1080p without fancy settings is just ridiculous.

The RTX 3070 is quite capable for 1080p gaming, even at high or ultra settings. If you're not facing any performance issues, you might not need to upgrade, unless you're looking for more frames per second or planning to play at a higher resolution.
