Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on my gaming rig. I've got an Intel i7-10700F, an RTX 3060 Ti with 8GB of VRAM, and 32GB of RAM. I play on a 2K monitor, and while I can run most racing sims at high settings without issues, I'm having serious performance drops with Le Mans Ultimate, especially during full grid races and rain effects. My frame rates drop to around 20 FPS on high settings and 40 FPS on medium, which isn't great. I checked my system with Afterburner, and it looks like my GPU is maxing out at 90-100% usage while my CPU is only at 30-50% usage. I'm using around 20GB of RAM and my VRAM usage goes up to 16GB at high settings, but my GPU only has 8GB. I'm considering an upgrade to a 16GB GPU or a faster 12GB one. The options I'm looking at are: the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB for about €500, the RTX 4070 Ti 12GB for €630, and the RTX 5070 12GB for around €600. What do you think would be my best choice?

It sounds like upgrading the GPU is a good move. Your CPU is decent and shouldn’t hold you back much. Go for the RTX 5070; it’ll give you a noticeable boost in performance. You might want to check out AMD options too, like the 7900 XT or 9070, as they often offer more VRAM for a similar price, and the 9070 could outperform the 5070 at times.
Your CPU should be good for now! It’s definitely worth upgrading the GPU. If you go with the 4060 Ti or the 5070, those 16GB options will likely help with your performance issues during those high intensity moments. Just a heads-up though—it would help if your motherboard supports PCIe 4.0 or higher to get the most out of newer GPUs.
I’ve got to agree, it seems vram is the bottleneck here, especially at high settings with all those cars. The 5060 Ti 16GB is more than enough for your needs and should save you some money. Just be cautious about future-proofing—if you're looking to play the latest titles in a year or two, consider the performance stats for the 12GB cards too, as they may hold up better in the long run.
Yeah, I think the issue really lies with the VRAM. When your GPU runs out of memory, it starts using system RAM, which slows everything down. The 5060 Ti 16GB could be a good fit since it's cheaper and would handle your needs better without hitting that VRAM cap too quickly, especially with busy races. Just keep in mind that you might sacrifice some raw performance compared to the other options.

That's what I was thinking! Le Mans is indeed RAM-hungry, especially with all those cars on the track. It’s good to know there’s a viable option that won’t break the bank.
