I have an HP laptop that stopped working after a recent flight, and it won't charge either. I've tested several chargers, all of which work on other laptops. I even removed the battery and tried powering it up, but nothing happened. I'm at a loss for what else to do. Some people have suggested that the motherboard might be damaged, but I find that hard to believe since the laptop was working fine before the flight. We had to stow our bags in the cargo area because there wasn't enough room on the small plane. Is there anything else I can try to get it working again?

It's possible that the battery was damaged during transport since laptops in cargo are exposed to unregulated temperatures and pressures. Even though it seems unfortunate, you're lucky it didn't cause any larger problems like a fire. If your laptop won't power on without the battery, it could be that it requires a functional battery in place to boot up properly.
Try this: remove the battery, then take out the power jack. Press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds. It might sound silly, but this fix has worked for many similar issues. If that doesn't work, consider removing one stick of RAM at a time and testing it. Sometimes it's a simple hardware glitch that can be easily resolved.
