Should I Upgrade My Laptop RAM to 32GB or Get a 16GB Kit?

I'm looking to upgrade the RAM in my HP Pavilion Gaming laptop. I currently have 16GB (two 8GB sticks) and I read that my laptop can support up to 32GB. I've found different pricing options on Amazon for RAM: a 2x16GB kit, a single 32GB stick, and a single 16GB stick. The single 16GB stick is actually cheaper than the 2x16GB kit, but the 1x32GB stick is more expensive than the 2x16GB kit. I'm curious if there's a performance difference between going for a single 32GB stick versus a 2x16GB kit, especially since I mainly use my laptop for gaming and work. Also, is there a better brand I should consider for gaming purposes?

You definitely want to check the specifications for your laptop. Sometimes, even if it says it can take 32GB max, it may only support 16GB per slot. That could affect your choices. If your laptop supports it, 2x16GB sticks are generally the way to go, as they can work in dual channel mode and give you better performance than a single 32GB stick.

Got it! But also, can you explain the difference in performance between going for a 2x16GB kit versus just buying two separate 1x16GB sticks?
