Should I Upgrade My PC or Buy a New One?

I've been using my PC for about six years, and it's starting to show its age. No matter what I do, the games I play are always lagging and slow. I'm weighing the options of either buying a completely new PC or just upgrading some parts. My current setup includes an Nvidia RTX 3080, 16 GB of RAM, and an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-core processor. Any advice?

Consider adding more RAM to reach 32 GB or upgrade to faster components if you're looking for an improvement in performance. But if you're tempted by a shiny new setup, just know that you'd likely want to invest in newer tech like DDR5 and a compatible motherboard for future-proofing.

If it were me, I'd lean towards buying a new PC. That way, you guarantee better performance and more longevity for future games.

Before jumping into buying new parts, check your task manager for CPU and RAM usage. It could be a software issue. Running a RAM test and reinstalling GPU drivers might help get things back on track.

Just so you know, I’m still using an older GTX 970 and an 8700K, so your setup should definitely handle most games. There might be something else at play here, like thermal throttling or even malware.

You can go either way! Honestly, it seems odd that your games are lagging since your specs are decent. You might first want to try a fresh OS reinstall or check if something else is hogging your resources in the background. Also, ensure that your CPU and GPU aren’t overheating.
