Hey folks! I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade my current PC or just buy a new one outright. My specs are an I5-10600KF, a 2060 Super, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, a 500 GB SATA SSD, and a 1 TB HDD. I've had this setup for about six months, but I'm finding it struggles with everything I throw at it. Upgrading to DDR5 would set me back around $600 for a new motherboard and M.2 drive, while a new PC would cost me about $1,000. Given the current market, which option would be the smarter or cheaper choice?

It really comes down to your budget and how you use your PC. If you’re looking at spending around $1,000 for a new rig, that definitely opens up some options.
You could easily upgrade your setup with just a couple hundred bucks. For around $80, you can add another 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, and a used 4070 Super might only run you about $400. Your CPU should handle that just fine, and with those upgrades, you might only spend about $480 and really boost your performance!
That's a good option, but I'm thinking of selling my PC for $400 and then adding $500 to buy something even better. What do you think?
Just be careful; a 10900KF might struggle with performance at higher resolutions. RAM and GPU upgrades are definitely the best bang for your buck right now.
If you use your computer for a lot of tasks, I'd suggest saving a bit longer and investing in a full upgrade—new motherboard, DDR5 RAM, CPU, and GPU. Yes, it’s more expensive up front, but it might be worth it in the long run. Small upgrades often lead to bottlenecks since the older components can’t keep up!
What are the exact models of your motherboard and PSU? Your CPU still has plenty of life left in it for various tasks!
Honestly, building a DDR5 system isn't great right now because of the crazy RAM prices. I'd recommend grabbing a 9060XT 16GB; it's affordable and would definitely give you a noticeable performance boost compared to your old 2060 Super!

I'm willing to stretch my budget to around $1,100 for the right setup.
