I'm debating whether to upgrade my current PC or just go for a whole new setup. My old rig has trouble running some of my games, and it's really slow when I have a bunch of applications open. I also create AI content and videos for the short stories I write, so I need something that can handle that. Here's what I currently have versus the new one I'm considering: My old PC is an ICEWOLF Gaming Desktop with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G, integrated graphics, 16GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD. The new PC I'm eyeing has a Ryzen 7 9700X, 32GB RAM DDR5, an RX 9060 XT, and a 2TB NVMe SSD, all for around $2100. I've never done any upgrades before, so that's a factor as well. I'm hoping to keep my costs under $2200 for a new build.

If you're set on spending $2200, consider getting a 5800 XT, another 16GB of RAM, and maybe a 9070 XT instead. You could also opt for a 5700 X 3D, which would give you a huge boost without surpassing your budget. The performance gains would be substantially better than the new PC you were looking at. If you're mainly gaming at 1080p, swapping the 9070 XT for a lower-end option will still crush it.
Honestly, for the specs you mentioned, $2100 seems steep for that RX 9060 XT. You might want to look for a prebuilt with a 9070 or 9070 XT, which you could likely get for around $2000. It'll give you way better performance for gaming without breaking the bank!
I hear you! I've been hunting for deals too, but finding something at that price point with the specs I want has been tricky, aside from what’s on eBay.
It seems like a new PC might be overkill for you. Instead of spending $2100 on that new setup, consider upgrading your current rig with a better CPU and GPU, like the Ryzen 5 5700X and the RX 9060 XT. It should run you about $1300 total for these upgrades. Also, don't forget to check your power supply wattage, as you'll likely need to boost that too. You’d get solid 1080p gaming performance and save money by not going for a full replacement! Thanks for the advice! I found out my power supply is only 500W, so I'll definitely need to upgrade that too. All in, with the upgrades I'm considering, I’d be spending about $1300 for a new CPU, GPU, power supply, SSD, and RAM.

I appreciate the tips! I know my integrated graphics are dragging me down, but I also want to work with AI and video stuff. Would the 9060 XT really make a noticeable difference for that?
