Should I Upgrade My PC or Wait a Year?

Hey everyone! I'm debating whether I should upgrade my current setup or just sell it and wait a year to buy something new. Right now, I have an Intel i5 10400F, a GTX 1650 GDDR6, an H510M motherboard, 16 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD, and a not-so-great 600W PSU. If I do go for an upgrade, should I be looking at DDR5 or stick with DDR4? Any advice would be appreciated!

Are you planning to fully overhaul your setup or just make incremental upgrades?

I'm thinking of doing it in stages: first getting a new PSU and RAM, then a GPU, and finally a new CPU and motherboard.

Just a heads up, new motherboards and CPUs will require DDR5, so you'll have to go with that. If you're not ready to upgrade for a year, you might want to hold off for now and see what new options come out then.

Good point! Should I just sell my current setup when the time comes?

If you're thinking about an upgrade, DDR5 is definitely the way to go, but you'll need a new motherboard and likely a new CPU since the i5 10400F doesn't support DDR5. A good intermediate upgrade would be to add another 16 GB stick of RAM for dual-channel, and you could look at getting a used GTX 3060 Ti for about $200, assuming your PSU can handle it. Just be cautious with the PSU quality!

Yeah, the i5 10400F won't work with DDR5. Honestly, if you're considering a serious upgrade, you might as well go for a new build.
