Should I Upgrade My Power Supply After Getting a 5070 Ti?

Hey everyone! I just picked up an Asus TUF 5070 Ti, and I was originally planning to use it with my XPG Core Reactor 750W power supply. I've been using this PSU for three years without any issues, but now I'm wondering if I should upgrade to a power supply that has a native 12VHPWR connector or if I can wait a few months with my current setup. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, your current PSU is perfectly fine for now. 750W is plenty for that GPU even with a few overheads. Just enjoy your new card!

Your 750W power supply is solid, especially since it's not super old. It will work fine with the 5070 Ti even though some folks suggest getting newer PSUs for the latest tech standards. But, investment in better gear like a proper PSU is a good choice for the long run, if that's what you’re thinking about!

Yeah, I get it. Keeping things up to date is smart, even if it costs a bit more!

I had a similar situation. The wattage with an adapter should cause no problems at all, and honestly, trying to future-proof your build too much can backfire. I stopped worrying about what’s next and just focused on what I needed now. When it comes time to upgrade, I’ll cross that bridge when I get there!

If the money isn't an issue, upgrading to a PSU with a native connector like the RM850e can give you peace of mind. I switched to one when I got my 5070 Ti just to avoid any worries about adapters. It's working perfectly for me!

I had to upgrade mine too because my old unit didn't have enough connectors. The new one definitely made things easier!

You're good to go! Your 750W PSU is within its lifespan and should have more than enough power for the 5070 Ti. I've been using a much older 1250W PSU with a 3090, and everything's running smoothly. Just keep an eye on your temps and you should be all set!

Thanks for the reassurance!
