Hey everyone! I built my current PC in 2021 after my laptop gave up on me. Unfortunately, back when I got it, I didn't know much about PCs, and I'm still not an expert, but I'm learning. My issue is that I'm stuck on Windows 10 because my Intel i7-4770S processor from 2013 doesn't meet the requirements to upgrade to Windows 11. On top of that, my video card, the Radeon RX 560, isn't exactly cutting-edge either.
I mostly play casual games like Baldur's Gate 3 with my boyfriend and some older Final Fantasy titles, so I don't think I need a super high-end machine. But with a non-existent budget, what options should I consider? I want to know if I should be looking to upgrade my processor or just save up for a completely new setup.

If gaming isn’t your main focus, consider something with integrated graphics for now. There are mini PCs or used Optiplexes that could serve you well for casual gaming and everyday tasks without breaking the bank.
For your budget, you might consider an AM4 setup—there are affordable combo deals that can significantly enhance performance. New builds can be found for under $700 that are compatible with Windows 11 and will last you for years!
I’d suggest saving up for a new build. Prices for RAM are going down, and you can find a good deal pretty soon. It’ll be worth it in the long run! I faced the same choice recently and decided to go for a new build myself.
Sticking with your current build might work for now. You could just upgrade to the best CPU for your socket, the i7-4790k, which gives a decent performance boost and overclocking options. Also, look for used GPUs on eBay to upgrade your graphics a bit without spending too much.
That’s a solid plan. You can find some great deals on older graphics cards—definitely worth checking out.
Upgrading to Windows 11 won’t really be possible with your current CPU. If you want to continue with Windows 10, you might be able to find a used CPU to give your build a slight boost. However, my advice is to save for an AM4 build; it's more future-proof and easier on your wallet.

That sounds more manageable than I thought! I’ll start looking into those deals.
