I just ordered a 5070 Ti and currently have a 750W Platinum power supply unit (PSU). My rig was built in 2021 and has a Ryzen 9 5900X processor, and I'm upgrading from a 3060 Ti. PC Part Picker estimates my wattage at 558W, which seems fine for my Corsair 750W 80+ Platinum PSU. I'm wondering if there's a real need to upgrade to a 1000W PSU, like the Corsair SF1000, which would be smaller and might run quieter. I'm also concerned about potential increases in my electric bill. Should I invest in the upgrade or save the $200?

I run a 4090 on a 750W PSU, and it's working perfectly fine. There shouldn't be any issues with a 5070 Ti either, as long as your PSU is a decent quality one. I think you're golden with your 750W setup!
I had a similar experience where my 750W PSU triggered a red light after adding a 5070 Ti, suggesting insufficient power. I switched to an 850W Corsair and everything worked perfectly. So while that can sometimes happen, it might be due to the PSU’s quality rather than just wattage. Just be mindful of it - sometimes it's not just about the numbers.
Upgrading to a 1000W PSU just to increase your headroom probably isn't necessary. If you enjoy spending money fixing imaginary problems, go for it! But honestly, your current PSU shouldn't increase your electric bill just because you have a higher wattage option - it only supplies what your components need. Is your current PSU even loud? If it's quiet and doing the job, you might be just fine sticking with it.
The quality of the SF750 is top-notch; it can easily handle a 4090 and definitely a 5070 Ti. It's more crucial to have a reliable PSU than to focus solely on the wattage. If you check PC Part Picker, it looks like the 5070 Ti has lower draw than I initially thought, so you might not need the upgrade after all.
