Should I Upgrade My Son’s CPU or Stick with What He Has?

I'm looking for advice on upgrading my son's gaming PC. We built it a few years back and it has a Ryzen 5 5600X processor and 32GB of 3200 RAM. This Christmas, I got him a 4080 Super, which he's excited about, especially since he loves playing games like Roblox and Minecraft, and sometimes connects for VR sessions or uses dual-monitor setups. For his upcoming birthday, he wants a new case, and I'm thinking about getting him a Lian Li SUP01. I'm debating whether to upgrade the CPU to a 5700X3D now or hold out for AM5 later. I want the PC to last as long as possible. Is the 5700X3D worth it, or should I not bother since the 5600X is still doing fine?

Honestly, the 5600X is still a solid processor. If you can grab a 5700X3D at a reasonable price, then it might be worth considering, but those deals are pretty rare these days. It's not really worth paying a premium right now for a slight upgrade, especially if your son is happy with his current setup.

True, and with the current prices, you could almost get a whole AM5 setup for just a bit more.
