I'm currently using a Ryzen 7 5800X and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060. I'm considering upgrading to a new monitor that supports 1440p, and I've been thinking about switching my CPU to the 5800X3D. However, I'm also aware that upgrading to AM5 might be better if I used my PC more frequently. That said, spending over £300 on a new CPU and another £150+ on a motherboard feels a bit excessive. What do you all think?

If you want to stick with NVIDIA, why not go for something like the RTX 4070 or even check out the 4060 Ti? Those options should give you a good boost in performance without breaking the bank, plus you'll maximize your gaming experience at 1440p without needing to upgrade your CPU right away.
I'd say it's not worth upgrading your CPU right now. The 5800X is still good, and for 1440p gaming, you mainly need a stronger GPU. Instead of spending big on a new motherboard and CPU, save that cash for a graphics card upgrade that will help you now and in the future when you switch to a new system.
