Should I Upgrade to the 7600X3D or the 7800X3D for Better Gaming Performance?

I'm looking to upgrade from my current 5700X setup because I'm hitting performance bottlenecks in 1440p gaming with my 9070 XT. In my area, there are bundles available for the 7600X3D at $800 CAD ($584 USD) and the 7800X3D at $1000 CAD ($731 USD), both including a motherboard and 32GB of Vulcan 6000 CL30 RAM. I was initially considering upgrading within the AM4 platform with a 5800X3D or 5700X3D, but those are priced around $600-700 CAD on eBay. Given that I could sell my current CPU, motherboard, and DDR4 memory, the actual cost of switching to AM5 with the 7600X3D isn't too much after tax. There's a $250 difference between the two bundles, and I'm wondering if the 7800X3D is worth the extra spending. I'm also considering future-proofing myself a bit since Zen 6 might be out soon. Would it be better to go for the cheaper 7600X3D and save the difference for a later upgrade, or is the performance boost of the 7800X3D justified?

Going for the 7600X3D seems logical—25% more cost for just 2 extra cores and slightly better clock speeds. Save that $250 for a potential Zen 6 upgrade. Plus, reselling your old hardware will help recoup some cash.

The 7600X3D is definitely a solid choice for high-res gaming at a great price. If you plan to aim for higher resolutions later, it's a fantastic value play anyway!

After checking out some comparison videos, I'd say go for the 7600X3D for the best value. It should fit your needs pretty well. If you're mainly gaming, the performance difference at 1440p isn’t huge.

The price hike for the 7800X3D seems a bit steep considering what you get. Unless you're heavily into CPU-intensive games, it might not be worth it to spend that much. I’d recommend watching some benchmark videos to see if that $200 difference feels justified to you.

I hear you! It’s tricky to find good benchmarks though, especially for the 7600X3D in games I play like Manor Lords. I'm actually curious if it bottlenecks in CPU-heavy titles.

Exactly! Even if benchmarks are scarce, it’s worth checking what others have experienced in terms of bottlenecks with that setup.

Honestly, if it's just for gaming, you might want to save that extra cash and stick with the 7600X3D. The performance gap between the two isn’t massive at 1440p anyway.
